I was mentioned in an article in the Cape Cod Times the other day in relation to Boston Bakes For Breast Cancer which is a delicious event raising proceeds to donate to breast cancer research. Thank you for helping to spread the word about “my labor of love” Heidi.

Please help spread the word about LLP so I can get more envelopes of love into the mailboxes of women going through the devastating treatment for breast cancer.

An excerpt:

This year, La Petite France Cafe is honoring Lesa Sverid, a cancer survivor who lives in Orleans. Sverid owns and operates the website, www.littlelifepreservers.com, a place where you can sign up someone who is undergoing cancer treatment. Sverid will then regularly send handmade cards to cheer up the person until she completes treatment.

“It’s just total unselfish love. We’ve been trying to support her,” says Heidi Parent, who met Sverid in a Colorful Creations card-making club. “Sometimes her cards are the one little bright spot in someone’s day.”

Statewide, Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer has chosen as this year’s honoree Heidi Parent’s grandmother, a Cape Codder who died at the age of 75 in 1989 after a decade-long battle with breast cancer.

A delicious event! Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer 2012 will take place May 7-13^th! It’s the recipe for happiness. Get involved in Boston’s Sweetest Charity, Bakes4Breast Cancer. No one says no to dessert. That’s why at Bakes for Breast Cancer, desserts serve as the centerpiece of their mission to raise money for breast cancer research. Their dessert centric breast cancer charity events, including Boston Bakes feature the food of the greatest Chefs, Pastry Chefs and culinary artists. From Boston to Cape Cod there are hundreds of participants involved in this delicious event! La Petite France Cafe located on Main Street in Hyannis is offering a yummy orange almond oatmeal cookie which is being enjoyed by my granddaughter in this picture. Boston Bakes for Breast Cancer 2012 is dedicating this year to the memory of Eleanor Howarth Wilcox, grandmother of long time Boston Bakes participant Heidi Parent of La Petite France Cafe.

The Perfect Scars book explores the emotional and physical impact of breast cancer. This video offers an introduction to the books authors and selection of women, who took part in the project. Revealing their personal stories of hardship and inspiration, they hope the book will offer comfort to others faced with breast cancer surgery. The book will be available in May 2012. The National Breast Cancer Foundation has given permission for the book to carry the Community Fundraiser Pink Ribbon. Profits from the sale of the book will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
