According to a large Harvard study alcohol can increase your risk of breast cancer. Your risk increases with the amount you consume. Compared to non-drinkers, if you drink one glass a day you only, but still increase your odds slightly. If you drink 2-5 glasses a day you increase your risk factor by 1 1/2 over a non-drinker. And the obvious conclusion is if you excessively drink alcohol you put yourself at a higher risk for breast cancer and other cancers.

The important note is if you drink 3-6 drinks a week you significantly increase your risk for breast cancer. Which divides down to about one drink a day. Scientists believe alcohol drives up your estrogen levels which in turn can increase your risks. Makes sense if you have an estrogen based breast cancer like I did.

Take note that these stats are based on your lifetime average. And another important point to ponder is it does not matter which type of alcohol you consume. Beer, wine, gin, vodka, etc are all capable of increasing your risk factor for breast cancer if you indulge consistently.

So if you break down the numbers it means you can drink up to 3 drinks a week with no marked increase in your risk factor for breast cancer.

Here is a very informative video explaining what, why and how radiation helps eradicate breast cancer . I remember my initial visit took awhile ( 40 minutes) and had me lying down so they could make the proper measurements for my dosing. The machine is big and a little scary at first. All the visits after were very quick. It took more time to drive there. I made sure to apply Aquaphor and aloe after each treatment to avoid or lessen any burning. I had some minor burning towards the end but it was only temporary.
